Hip Hop Charts - Jan 19th '06
In this week's hip-hop charts, Eminem continues to hold the top spot, Biggie creeps up, and The Black Eyed Peas stand their ground in the top ten.
Still bangin' it out this week is Slim Shady, sittin' tight at the #4 slot. The hip-hop charts just can't get enough of Curtain Call, which has pushed 76,180 units this week, shifting one spot from the charts since last week. Recently, Em and his ex-wife Kim remarried, adding just one more positive spin to the rapper's busy list. The compilation album has been doing very well, and after 6 weeks strong, has sold a total of 1,567,158, according to Nielsen's Soundscan.
Creeping up two spots to #5 this week is the Notorious B.I.G with Duets: The Final Chapter. In its 4th week standing, the killer cameo album has brought in a total of 714,500 in sales. "Nasty Girl" has helped to move 52,069 units this week.
Holding their ground at #9 this week is The Black Eyed Peas. After a hard-core 32 weeks of chart-topping sales and radio regulation, the foursome has spit out a hot 3,139,923 CDs in total. The Peas show no signs of letting up competition, managing to hold on to the top 10 rank despite a slight movement on the charts. They continue to show they're not about the Monkey Business, with 40,170 copies sold this week.
Next up is Lil' Wayne, holding on to the #17 seat. The fireman has pushed 31,604 CDs this week, and has continued to live up to the hype, with a bangin' 630,994 copies sold thus far. Weezy seems to be makin' it hot everywhere these days, heating up a cameo with Dipset's JR Writer in the street anthem "Birdcall."
The Boricua Reggaeton master Daddy Yankee is sitting at #27 spot this week, smashing out an additional 24,659 copies. It's the 5th week for Barrio Fino En Directo, which has rounded off its digits to a total of 296,624.
Right behind is Juelz Santana, workin' the #28 slot. The Harlem kid has been consistent with his single releases, thus granting him access to the outer limits of official gold stat. "Oh Yes" continues to receive heavy video and radio rotation, bringing What the Game's Been Missing's sales to 23,640 copies this week. After grindin' out 8 weeks on the charts, the Uptown rep has pressed 447,786 albums thus far.
A couple doors down at #29 this week is Kanye West. The out-spoken rap act continues to show that conscious lyrics still brings in the dollars, with 2,475,545 copies sold after a very controversial 19 weeks. The multi-platinum selling artist has rounded off Late Registration's digits to 23,209 CDs this week.
Ranking at #30 is Ludacris Presents Disturbing Tha Peace. In its 5th week, Ludacris and the officials of DTP have managed to push 376,397 albums, with 22,554 copies sold this week.
Sweatin' at the #32 seat this week is Nelly. The lead single for Sweatsuit created blazin' buzz and massive airwave control, but just couldn't gather enough ice to fix them grillz. After a lethargic 8 weeks, the multi-platinum rapper has only sold 336,908 units, with 22,363 CDs sold this week.
Lastly, Jeezy continues his snowstorm, 50 begins declining, and Chamillionaire's shine starts to fade. Hittin' up the #33 spot is Young Jeezy. It's been a long time coming, and the Southern rapper has continued to get it big with a total of 1,361,915 discs spent after a hard-earned 25 weeks on the charts. Jeezy seems to know thug motivation well, runnin' through 21,911 units this week. Right behind at #34 this week is the soundtrack for the movie Get Rich or Die Tryin.' Rotation for "Window Shopper" has declined, but the album has still taken in a total of 1,152,704 after bangin' out 10 weeks on the hip-hop charts. This week, 50 Cent has helped the soundtrack shop its way to 25,089 in sales. Chamillionaire is short on his hustle this week at #42. Cham has managed to hustle 17,889 copies this week, bringing The Sound Of Revenge to 414,503 in total after 8 weeks on the charts.
