Hip Hop Charts - Feb. 23rd '06

In this week's hip-hop charts, Eminem trades places with Dem Franchize Boys, and The Black Eyed Peas reenter the top 15.

Still on top of the charts this week is Eminem, moving barely an inch to No. 10. "When I'm Gone" continues to get decent video rotation in its 11th week, bringing Curtain Call to near double-platinum stat at 1,947,075. This week, Em has pushed 73,006 units, according to Nielsen's Soundscan.

Leanin' at the No. 12 seat this week is Dem Franchize Boys with On Top of Our Game. The southern rap stars are proving they are on top of their game in their 2nd week, rockin' 61,864 copies, rounding off their total digits to 167,839.

Jumping seven slots on the hip-hop charts this week is The Black Eyed Peas, coming in this week at No. 14. The Peas have moved an additional 59,335 CDs this week, up from 50,564 last week, which explains the recent step-up from top twenty rank to top fifteen. In their 37th week, the foursome has shed a total of 3,370,962 albums.

On the come-up this week is Sean Paul, bringing the heat at the No. 33 seat. "Temperature" continues to lock it down on TV and radio, reducing the blustery chill to smoke with 599,040 discs sold in total. The dancehall star has jumped a blazin' thirteen positions on the charts this week, bringing Trinity to further popular demand with 33,058 CDs sold.

Lockin' it down at No. 40 this week is Matisyahu with Live At Subs. The reggae album has finished off the week with 29,574 units sold, with a total of 398,615 discs sold in total.

Next up is Kanye West, slipping twelve spots to No. 42 this week. The 70's flavored "Touch the Sky" has grabbed consumers' attention, receiving positive airplay and bringing Late Registration's numbers to 2,603,968. The video for the latest single is a top-ten hit, however Ye's sales are down this week, with 29,455 copies sold, compared to 38,652 last week.

Hittin' up the No. 46 spot this week is The Notorious B.I.G. The BK great has been on the move with Duets: The Final Chapter, with 27,469 albums clearing the shelves this week. The LP has rounded off its total numbers to 890,715 after 9 weeks on the go.

Coming in at No. 48 this week is Nelly with Sweatsuit. The St. Louis rap star has skipped that trip to the jewelry store, loosely pushing 26,301 copies this week. Derrty has recently released the St. Lunatics album and doesn't seem to be utilizing his platinum-status abilities with either LP, removing his grillz with only 458,754 CDs rotated after 13 weeks.

Falling three slots to No. 59 on the charts this week is Lil Wayne. However, Cash Money is living up to its name thanks to Tha Carter II, which has circulated a total of 758,251 units. The New 'Awlins rep continues to keep it fresh, with 22,859 representing the week-in total.

Coming to an end, Daddy Yankee romps, Young Jeezy gets hood, and Chamillionaire sneaks up from behind. Far downhill is Daddy Yankee, rippin' at the No. 67 seat. The Boricua crossover has kept the ball rolling with "Rompe," keeping the game on lock-down after 10 weeks. Yank is going for the gold, pushing 408,410 discs in total with 20,851 CDs moved this week. Still clinging to the charts this week at No. 71 this week is Young Jeezy. After an impressive 30 weeks, Jeezy is still thuggin' and clappin,' self-motivating Let's Get It to 1,462,185 units in total. This week has been a slight come-up from the last, with 20,121 representing this week's numbers and 20,638 lockin' down last week's rank. Chamillionaire is sitting quiet at the No. 74 spot, bringing on the vigor this week with 19,056 albums sold. The Sound of Revenge has moved 504,753 CDs thus far.
