Hip Hop Charts - Feb. 16th '06

In this week's hip-hop charts, Dem Franchize Boyz debut in the top 5, Eminem holds the top 10, and The Black Eyed Peas lock down the top 20.

Debuting on the hip-hop charts this week at No. 5 is Dem Franchize Boyz with On Top Of Our Game. They had previously enjoyed modest success with the early "White Tee," then recently bombarded the scene with "I Think They Like Me." The catchy single gave off a major buzz, creating an epidemic throughout the radio, video, and club scene. Dem Boys have now fired off with their new ish "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It," snapping and leaning their way to a total of 105,975 units, according to Nielsen's Soundscan.

Still rockin' the waves this week is Eminem, slipping two spots on the charts this week to No. 9. However, the curtain has called in 81,989 copies this week, a step-up from 77,643 last week. The compilation album has moved 1,874,069 discs in total, as "When I'm Gone" continues stealing the show, bringing Curtain Call near double-platinum status after 10 weeks.

Coming in at No. 20 this week is The Black Eyed Peas. After 36 long weeks, The Peas are still in the top 20 on the hip-hop charts, holdin' down business with 50,564 CDs pushed this week. After heavy airplay and massive fan base support, their total digits round off to 3,311,627.

Ten steps below is Kanye West at No. 30. Kanye is back to crack at it, jumping 20 tremendous slots on the charts to make the cut with 38,652 albums sold this week, compared to 20,165 sold last week. The Chi-town lyricist is looking extra fly, testifying with 2,574,513 copies sold thus far.

Next up is Remy Ma, making her debut on the charts this week at No. 33. The "Queen of New York" has the New York streets on blaze with the LP There's Something About Remy: Based on a True Story. In its first week, the "Bronx Bomber" is getting heavy spins on her second single, "Conceited," bringing her first week sales to 37,208. Just last week, the Terror Squad member heated the airwaves on New York's HOT 97 morning show, expressing her anger at Universal/SRC's lack of label support and left Fat Joe in the dust with her verbal punishment.

The Notorious B.I.G. slides down to No. 39 this week. Sales are slippin' with 29,546 discs sold this week, a downslide from 36,621 last week. The Brooklyn rep has brought in 863,246 CDs after 8 weeks.

Ranking in at No. 43 this week is Matisyahu. The reggae artist has taken in 28,671 copies this week, holdin' it down with 369,041 albums sold in total.

A few doors down is Sean Paul, steaming up the dancehall scene at No. 46. "Temperature" is still sizzling, leaving this winter up in flames with 27,671 units sold this week. After over 20 weeks on fire, Trinity has managed to blaze 565,982 CDs.

Seven spots under is Nelly, freezin' the No. 46 spot this week. Derrty has still been going at it, inching his way to a total of 432,453 discs, with 25,585 units pushed this week. It seems them "Grillz" are in need of a shine or two, 'cause the St. Lunatic kid needs that extra floss to hit the gold stat.

Lastly, Lil Wayne keeps blazing, Daddy Yankee holds down el barrio, and Young Jeezy reps the block. Hittin' up the No. 56 slot this week is Lil Wayne. The southern firestarter has dropped his torch, falling 20 scorching spots on the charts from last week. In total, Weezy has lit up 735,392 copies, with 24,071 representing his week-in total. Following loosely is Daddy Yankee, reppin the 'hood at No. 62. After 9 weeks, "Rompe" is still on popular demand, bringing the Reggaeton master to 387,559 units. This week, Yankee has sold 20,638 CDs, and is on the move with a new radio show in the works, premiering this March. Young Jeezy is doing the 'hood some good at the No. 64 seat, lifting Thug Motivation 101 to a total of 1,442,064. This week, the ATL star has banged out 20,451 units.

Next week look for Dem Franchize Boyz to battle it out with Eminem.
