Hip Hop Charts - Feb. 2nd '06

In this week's hip-hop charts, Eminem falls short, Biggie falls back, and The Black Eyed Peas fall far below.

Making a drastic slip to No. 8 this week is Eminem with Curtain Call. Despite the enormous dip on the charts, Em is still doing his thing, with 73,206 units pushed this week. However, Em continues to smash out the hip-hop competition, holding keys to the top ten with 1,714,437 discs sold in total.

Next up is the Notorious B.I.G, coming in at No. 15 this week. The Duets: The Final Chapter has been extremely successful, bangin' out 39,515 albums this week. The blazin' sexy single, "Nasty Girl," has helped B.I.G. to push 797,079 CDs to date. That's nasty enough to hold Biggie in the Top 20 after 6 weeks.

Slipping six slots this weeks is The Black Eyed Peas, clinging to that No. 18 seat. The foursome managed to sell 37,887 units this week. It's been a rigid 34 weeks, yet the Peas are reppin' hard, with a total of 3,215,401 copies of Monkey Business sold.

Down the ladder this week is Lil Wayne, lightin' up the hip-hop scene at No. 29. So far, it's been nothing but 8 weeks of flames, but not enough water to cool down Tha Carter II. The Cash Money sizzler has pushed 26,566 units this week, bringing his total to 684,865 CDs.

Making his debut in the hip-hop charts' Top 50 is beatboxing Hasidic reggae sensation Matisyahu at No. 32 with Live at Stubb's. The orthodox Jew has been featured on MTV and "The Late Show With David Letterman," and is playing sold-out shows throughout NYC. He recently was also an opening act for rock group O.A.R. at Madison Square Garden. Live at Stubb's moved 25,269 copies this week and 312,800 units since it's August release date.

Sittin' at the No. 35 seat this week is Daddy Yankee with Barrio Fino En Directo. The reggaeton great has a week-in total of 22,516. "Rompe" is still en fuego, giving the 'hood-rich star a total of 344,631 in sales after a blazin' seven weeks.

Right behind at No. 36 this week is Nelly with Sweatsuit. Derrty has had the industry on freeze frame with "Grillz," which still seems to be icey enough this week to pull in 22,207 copies. After a slippery 10 weeks, them grillz have flashed 380,859 discs in total.

Making their rounds to No. 42 this week is Ludacris and DTP. The group's sales has basically stayed the same this week, with 19,756 copies sold this week, compared to 19,940 sold last week. After six weeks on the charts, "Georgia" still continues to rip it, taking Ludacris Presents Disturbing Tha Peace to a total of 416,093 units to date.

Next up is Kanye West, falling to the No. 43 slot this week. The controversial rapper is at it again, selling an additional 19,215 units this week. After over 20 weeks on the charts, Late Registration has pressed out 2,515,696 copies.

Finally, Young Jeezy does' it for his hood, Sean Paul heats it up, and Juelz Santana looses his grind. Thuggin' it out at No. 44 this week is Young Jeezy. The southern motivator has the game on trap this week, pushing 19,153 units. This brings Let's Get It to 1,399,933 copies sold after 27 weeks. Coming in at No. 46 this week is Sean Paul with Trinity. Paul's latest single, "Temperature," is creating heat waves helping him to score 18,607 copies this week. The Jamaican sensation has moved a total of 515,165 units thus far. Clockworkin' in at No. 47 is Juelz, who has been slow with the grind at 18,301 units pushed this week. The soon-to-be certified gold What the Game's Been Missing has banged out a total of 486,255 discs, and is in need for that extra push to get the gold stat. The young Harlem kid seems to be standing by his man Cam'ron through the beef with Def Jam prez Jay-Z, although it doesn't seem like he will be leaving the label.

Next week, look for Dem Franchise Boys to enter the charts.
