Clinton Sparks - Busta Rhymes: New Crack City
In his decade and a half involved with the hip-hop game, Busta Rhymes has flipped a script that not many could dream up. Starting in the game with the Leaders of the New School, this energetic emcee has amassed five multi-platinum certifications, numerous neck-breaking hit singles, his own record label (Flipmode Records), a career-defining album on the way from Aftermath's Dr. Dre, and the mountain of respect one would expect an emcee to acquire after accomplishing these feats over the course of 15 years. But if 2006 is going to be the year of The Big Bang, it begins right now.
Although '06 started rough for Busta, things have started to pick up just in time. With Busta's "Touch It" record reaching #1 on the hip-hop Billboard charts and the All-Star remix getting major music video and mixtape burn, Busta Rhymes stands on the eve of his June 13th release of The Big Bang with New York's hip-hop resurgance rested squarely on his back.
With all eyes on Busta as he reaches the home stretch of releasing his 7th solo album, the Brooklyn, NY rap legend sets his sights on returning New York to its hip-hop prominence of the 1990s. With The Big Bang set to feature Rick James (a track before he passed!), Eminem, Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey, plus production from Dr. Dre, Timabaland, Sha Money XL, Swizz Beatz, Green Lantern, Scott Storch, J Dilla and DJ Scratch, Busta Rhymes gets on his mixtape shhhhh and turns to the company of yet another producer to lace him up. But in this case, Busta didn't just let him lace one or two tracks, he let him lace an entire album's worth.
Giving SHADE 45 and MixUnit's own Clinton Sparks an entire album worth of exclusive records, Busta Bus aka. The Flipmode General gets familiar with the baddest mixtape DJ/producer in the game for the mixtape prelude to his Aftermath debut. Producing almost every track on this mixtape exclusively for this project, Clinton Sparks aka. Mr. Get Familiar brings you the mixtape before the storm: New Crack City.
Featuring more than 30 tracks in total (16 of which are produced by Clinton), the mixtape jumpoff to The Big Bang is a definite future classic and easily one of the early contenders for Mixtape of the Year. This mixtape features 16 original tracks from Busta Rhymes, including joints featuring Aftermath/Flipmode label-mates 50 Cent, Papoose, Dr. Dre, Rah Digga, Spliff Star, Labba and Reek Da Villain. To sweeten the deal, you'll also find a J-Dilla produced cut + a Stevie Wonder-laced record exclusive to New Crack City.
