nas aint the first person to say its dead. Half the ppl on this site aint listened to Common's 'I Used to Love H.E.R.' back when he was beefin with ice cube: and right there he was talkin bout how hip hop was dying. Nas aint tryin to to say 'ayo its dead, give up' - its a fkn wake up call to all rappers about whats happened to hip hop and what keeps happening when ppl like g-unit are around, and if you cant understand it you should spend less time lookin at buffy photos and more time listening to the roots, soakin up some black thought and immersin yourself in GOOD music.

i agree with hotchoklat. Nas's call was for a Wake Up like the classic show, real hip-hop is live and kicking and it's up to all true heads and recent converts and convertibles to recognise authentic parts to it and listen and activate. If you can't think beyond mainstream visibility pick up Common, the Roots, Mos Def, Talib, Del, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface, MF Doom. If you want to look beyond check Immortal Technique, Ill Advised, Jedi Mind Tricks, Cunninlynguists, Percee P and so many many more.... Hip-Hop lives but it's not very healthy and we need to exercise it.
