Two Five - Who Is Two Five

|

Who Is Two Five? Good question. It would be easy for people to assume they know Two Five. The birth cousin of rap mogul 50 Cent, his name symbolized the once sibling-like relationship between the two growing up in Southside Jamaica, Queens. It would seem then that Two Five would be an easy emcee to put in a box. One would assume that with a family member seated so prominently in the hip-hop industry and a name given to him based upon his bond with that hip-hop boss, Two Five would have his hip-hop road paved in gold. In reality, it couldn't be further from the truth.

Once cousins so close that neighborhood locals often referred to them as brothers, the two grew up in the same house – their grandmother's. The woman credited with raising Curtis "Interscope" Jackson also raised a young Michael Francis aka. Two Five aka. Twenty-five Cent. With Two Five being a young teenager at the time 50 was coming up, the hip-hop superstar mentored his younger cousin along the way and helped mold him into an aspiring rapper.

DJ L-Gee & Ali Vegas - The Best Of Ali Vegas Vol. 2 : The Prince Of N.Y. Soon To Be King

| |

It hasn't happened yet, but it's coming. It's been a long time coming – seven years to be exact. That was about the time when Ali Vegas, then a 16-year-old slick-talking emcee from Southside Jamaica, Queens, started his hip-hop journey. Unfulfilled contracts, major label red tape and industry setbacks kept the kid from pushing his music to the masses and living up to his own expectations. But the end of the rainbow is much brighter than the beginning, so enough with the past. Back to the future.

Keeping the streets flooded with music when he couldn't get it poppin' through his label, Vegas earned himself an underground reputation with a variety of mixtapes and mixtape appearances, including a publicized beef with DJ Clue? and Fabolous. Carving a mixtape niche for himself over the years, a buzz is never anything Vegas aka. The Prince of New York has ever had to worry about.

With his older cousin, NBA star Lamar Odom, Vegas helped craft the blueprint for Rich Soil Records, a joint venture between the two (headlined by the Queens emcee, of course) . With his label situation solidified once and for all, and his full-length debut album Who Needs A Pen? on the way, Vegas returns his old ways and mixtape habits.

DJ Absolut & The Ruff Ryders - Official Ruff Ryder Mixtape: We In Here

| |

The indestructable Ruff Ryders family is groomed for success. Since the
mid-1990s when the Ruff Ryders first blew hip-hop out of the water with
their hit single "Ruff Ryders Anthem." Since then, they're artists have
sold 20 million records.

But that's obviously not enough, so with albums coming from DMX,The Lox
and Swizz Beatz the forecast is sunny with a chance for platinum showers.
With Swizzy and DMX throwing teasers in mixtape rotation of late, it was
only a matter of time before they released another official mixtape.

In corroboration with Hot 97's All-Star DJ Absolut, the tight-knit Ruff Ryders
family is all in the building and all in the family on this official mixtape
banger. This joint features new tracks & freestyles from DMX, Cassidy, The
Lox (including solo cuts from Styles P, J-Hood & Jadakiss), Swizz Beatz, Drag-On,
Flashy, Kartoon, My-My and more.
