Benamin & Fresh Daily - The Times E.P.

|

In the Spring of 2009, producer/engineer/mixer BENAMIN, had a meeting with the
rising Brooklyn emcee Fresh Daily, to discuss possible future collaborations.
Upon meeting at the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at NYU, where
BENAMIN was finishing his senior year, the two artists found that they shared a
common direction in sound and taste. They saw the future of Hip-Hop music in a
similar light and realized that the sound they wished to portray in their next
immediate releases was very much the same.

This meeting resulted in a collaboration that would become the EP you now see
before you, as well as Fresh Daily’s recent mixtape Tomorrow is Today. It is a
sound that blends genres and influences to create Hip-Hop laced with electronic
elements. Hard beats, sweeping synths, and bass lines that bump. The Times EP
was initially created as BENAMIN’s thesis project to be presented to a panel of
industry professionals at NYU in May, 2009. He pressed up 200 copies for hand to
hand distribution in order introduce listeners to his music and craft. The Times
EP is a step in a new direction for Fresh Daily, meanwhile underlying his
lyrical ability. It accurately portrays BENAMIN’s production styles and
showcases his skill as an engineer/mixer. Download the EP, turn the volume up,
and let it bump.
