My opinion...

I'll probably get kicked across the room for writing this, but it needs to be said...again...If you think this is how Wayne was "back in the day," you're mistaken - this is the same stuff he's been putting out for a while now. His rap (as it is in this tape) is nonsensical and full of simple analogies. It's important to view music with an objective mind, and if you do you'll understand what I'm saying. He's good at rapping on beat, and he's popular because he keeps it simple enough for the common person to understand. This tape is for Lil Wayne fans, but not for much else...sorry to say...I've read comments that say his flow "killed it," but what did he kill? He typically sticks to one rhyme for only three lines and then switches around for three or four. Rinse and repeat and you've got this mixtape. Naturally, there are exceptions to this, as there are exceptions to everything, but we need to be honest about this.

Okay. So I had a long response written out, but I accidentally pressed tab and backspace (which is the same as pressing backspace on your browser), so I'll keep it short.
1. The track that runs 2:50 and is 3rd from last (I don't have titles; they all read Untitled). I digress. Here's an example of his simple and meaningless lyrics. It's almost as if he took a rhyming dictionary out and just put three words in a row with the same ending.
"My apologies, diabolically, I'm the prodigy..." this is nonsensical and has no value whatsoever. If "killing it lyrically" just means rhyming words, well then any third grader can have a successful hip-hop career. The sad part is that a lot of Lil Wayne's songs are like this - simple and nonsensical.
2. These tracks all (for the most part) about three things: women, money, drugs. I know, I know, most songs are about these things. This comment is aimed strictly at Wayne, it's aimed at MOST RAPPERS out there. Where is the creativity? Sure, they're about the same topics with different words, but are they REALLY that different? It's like stealing an essay off the internet and changing the words around.
I am glad that there are level-headed people who read opinions. I'm not a hater; I'm glad Lil Wayne is getting paid, I just don't really like his music. If I can't dislike something about a person, then neither can anybody else--that makes us all haters.
