It's easy to sell a million when your music is all over the radio and being forced fed down the throats of your average consumer. D-Block has been around about as long as Wayne, and they keep getting better. Wayne started to really show his potential, but it's obvious to see he can't really do anything original. Good production and decent guest spots will almost always save a bad album. Does D-Block want to sell albums, yes... but do they compromise what they have always been about to do it, no. It's been the same since the LOX days. If they stayed with Puffy rthey would have ended up like Ma$e, or even worse... Record sales don't compensate for talent, it just means that the radio/media outlets have usually exploited a certain performer so THEY can make just as much money. I will give Wayne props for knowing how to sell himself.

No one ever said that the mixtapes made Weezy's career. We all remember the Hot Boyz. Mixtapes did keep people guessing what he was going to drop next, though. I think we all knew deep down inside that the exclusives were going to stop after the first C3 leaked. Then once the hype began, so did the flood of pause DJ's**... **they have always been around, but people gave them a come up when they got hungry for more of what they wanted** The mixtape game is both a gift and a curse. Free exposure is never a bad thing, but now we see how it can ruin a good album. If artists don't want their material to leak, they need to keep better tabs on their masters. It's not really the DJ's killing the game, it's the people supporting them that are killing the game. Put it this way: If no one even knew the new C3 tracklisting because it was kept super secret so it wouldn't leak, and Weezy didn't want mixtape DJ's to have it before it dropped, how did Chuck T have it? Wayne had to know SOMEONE out there was letting his music get out, if he wasn't giving it out HIMSELF. The album would have leaked a week early regardless, due to some music store employee jacking a copy as soon as it reached the store. I've already seen posts about it. But you are right, all these cut and paste DJ's (and pause DJ's) have killed the mixtape game. I come to this site to get some mixtapes I can't find in Dallas, but there are only a few DJ's I'll download for legit exclusives. I'll admit, I've checked out a couple of White-Owl mixes, but because there were songs on it I wanted to hear that were together on one 'album'. But even then it's pretty hit or miss with him.
