After serving a month of what was supposed to be a 70-day sentence at New York's Rikers Island, the rapper was released early on December 30 for good conduct.
DMX was relieved of two-thirds of his sentence for behaving himself behind bars and had also accrued some credit for time spent previously in jail, a spokesperson for the Queens district attorney told E! News on Friday (January 6). Neither DMX's spokesperson nor his attorney could be reached for comment.
The 34-year-old X, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was ordered to 70 days in jail on November 18th for a parole violation stemming from a guilty plea last year to reckless endangerment and driving under the influence.
He was later given another week for a separate incident in which his SUV struck a car that then smashed into a police car, but the judge allowed him to serve the time concurrently with his previous sentence.
